Abstract

The region of the Middle East has been for centuries space of interweaving of interests of power holders, both within the countries of the region and major world powers. The favorable geographical position and significant reserves of natural resources, principally oil, make the Middle East, in terms of security, very sensitive. Clash of civilizations and religions in the region and the locations of the most important holy places for both Christianity and Islam was historically a stumbling rock and a great obstacle to peace and prosperity. The aim of this article is to point out and to attempt to answer the question of how Islamic State can influence on global security. Considering the complexity of the security reality in the Middle East, it can be said that the importance is reflected in the fact that it provides a contribution to its knowing the aspect that arises from the problem issues.

Author Biographies

Hatidza Berisa, Military academy, Republic of Serbia

Hatidža Beriša attended University of National defense in Belgrade. Her working career began in 1986 in the Secretariat for National Defence in Klin, then she worked in Prizren, Pec and Pristina. She continued postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Civil Defense, where in 2002 defended her master's thesis: „Drug addiction and narcoterrorism in Kosovo and Metohija“. Her working career continues sector for  planning the defense system of the Ministry of Defence in Belgrade. In 2005 she enrolled in doctoral studies at the facultiy of Political Sciences in Belgrade, where her doctorate on the topic „Political violence in Kosovo and Metohija“. After gaining a doctor of political science she started working at the Military Academy, in the School of National Defense as a lecturer. She is the member of a few professional associations. Author of a few monographs and scientific papers.

Katarina Jonev, University of Belgrade, Republic of Serbia

Katarina Jonev gratuated international relations at Faculty of Political Science, University in Belgrade. She got master degree of International Law at Faculty of Law after successfully defended thesis: „Cyber security in international relations“. In the focus of her scientific reaserch are issues of cyber security, international law and international relations. She works as analyst for cyber security policies, cooperates with a few national and international institutions. She is author of many scientific papers and she has participated on many conferences in Serbia and abroad.

Igor Barisic, Military academy, Republic of Serbia

Master Igor Barisic, graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade. During his working life he served in several garrisons. He finished master studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences in the field of international security, and master's degree in the US, in the field on terrorism. Now he is on doctoral studies at Military Academy in Belgrade. He is lecturer in the department of strategy in National Defence School. He has participated in a many national and international scientific conferences. He is author of many scientific papers.
