Russell Foster

Dr. Russell Foster read History at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He holds Masters in International Relations and Human Geography from Newcastle University, was Visiting Scholar in European Identity at Virginia Tech, and was awarded his PhD in International Politics in 2013. His first book, "Tabulae Imperii Europae", was published by Routledge in 2015. His research specialisms are nationalism and post-nationalism in Eurasia, the history and theory of empire, and visual/symbolic politics. Dr. Foster is currently the Marie-Curie Fellow in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, working on a project to redesign the Union's symbols.
