Abstract

The main subject of interest of this paper is the current situation and the trend of international terrorism in the European Union explained thorough security analysis of the committed terrorist attacks and their influence on the European security and stability. Also, it will be shown the measures and the activities of the anti and contrary terroristic fight against the risks and the threats from terrorism as a result of the recent terroristic attacks. Even though on the international level there isn’t a common definition of terrorism as a criminal act, the European Union and the Council of Europe through their most important documents set the concept for terrorism which has helped in the process of creating national security systems for the fight against the terrorism. This paper will go through the circumstances of terrorist attacks (failed, foiled, and completed) in the European Union Member States, as well as the conditions of the criminal acts through analysis of the statistical data about the court proceedings and the verdicts.

Ice Ilijevski, Law Faculty, University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Bitola, Macedonia

Ice Ilijevski is born on 29.06.1986 in Bitola. He has defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Security in Skopje, University "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Bitola and gain the scientific title doctor of sciences in the field of security. Now he is an assistant professor at the Law faculty in Kichevo, University "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Bitola at I and II cycle of studies. He has written several books, handbooks, papers and articles in the field of security as author and co-author and has been a participant at many national and international scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums, etc. Also, he was a member of several teams for conducting surveys and researches for citizens' perceptions about security, safety, and stability in the country. His field of interest is control and oversight of the security sector, fight against different types of illegal trafficking, terrorism, and organized crime.

Kire Babanoski, Faculty of security studies – Skopje, “St. Kliment Ohridski” University – Bitola, North Macedonia; MIT University – Skopje, North Macedonia

Kire B. Babanoski is born on 05.03.1987 in Prilep. He has defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of security in Skopje, University "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Bitola and gain the scientific title doctor of sciences in the field of security. Now he is assistant professor at the Faculty of security studies, MIT University in Skopje, responsible for the courses National security, Intelligence, Criminalistics and Terrorism at I and II cycle of studies. He has written several handbooks, papers and articles in the field of security as author and co-author and has been participant at many national and international scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums etc. His field of interest is private security, traffic safety, fight against different types of illegal trafficking, terrorism and organized crime.

Zlate Dimovski, Faculty of security – Skopje, “St. Kliment Ohridski” University – Bitola, North Macedonia

Zlate S. Dimovski is born on 02.10.1966 in Bitola. He has defended his doctoral thesis at the Institute for sociological, political and legal researches, University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje and gain the scientific title doctor of sociological sciences. Now he is full professor at the Faculty of security in Skopje, University "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Bitola, and responsible for the courses Criminalistics tactics, Methodics for researching terrorism, International terrorism and Criminalistics intelligence at I, II and III cycle of studies. He has written several books, handbooks, papers and articles in the field of security as author and co-author and has been participant at many national and international scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums etc. Also, he was member of several teams for conducting surveys and researches for citizens' perceptions about security, safety and stability in the country. His field of interest is fight against different types of illegal trafficking, terrorism and organized crime.
